                    State of Georgia
            Watering Restrictions

Are you a home or business owner who wants to water new plants? Effective March 15, 2008, you can take an online, water conservation quiz. If you answer 14 of 20 questions correctly, or 70 percent, you can print out a certificate that allows you to water new grass and plants for as long as 10 weeks on an odd-even schedule. That's only if your water provider is following the state rules. Cities and counties around metro Atlanta have a mix of rules, with some following the state guidelines and others going with their own versions. The quiz is available at www.outdoorwateruse.com.

THE STATE'S RULES

25 minutes of hand watering allowed between midnight and 10 a.m., three days a week on an odd/even schedule.
Hand watering is defined as one person with one garden hose with a spray nozzle that shuts off when it is released.

Odd-numbered addresses may water Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays; even-numbered addresses may water Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Swimming pools may be filled.
